Bhagavadgita
(sánscrito: "Canto de Dios).

Una de las obras más célebres de las escrituras hindúes, que forma parte del Mahabharata. Está escrito en la forma de un diálogo entre Arjuna, un príncipe guerrero, y Krishna, su auriga, quien es una encarnación de Visnú. Fue compuesto probablemente entre el s. I y el s. II BC, después que la mayor parte de la epopeya. Preocupado por el sufrimiento que la batalla inminente va a causar, Arjuna vacila, pero Krishna le explica que el camino más elevado es el cumplimiento desapasionado del deber que no busca el triunfo personal. El Bhagavadgita considera la naturaleza de Dios y la realidad última, y ofrece tres disciplinas para trascender las limitaciones de este mundo: jñana (conocimiento o sabiduría), karma (acción desapasionada) y bhakti (amor a Dios). El Bhagavadgita ha inspirado numerosos comentarios a través de los siglos, como los hechos por Ramanuja y por Mohandas K. Gandhi.
